Testing

Test cycles you can report on, from unit test to dress rehearsal.

Organise scenarios and cases by cycle: unit, system integration, user acceptance, regression, performance and cutover dry run. Each case has steps, a tester, an actual result and a status.

Import cases from an Excel template, raise a defect as an issue in one step, and see which build objects have test coverage.

Testing

Test cycles, scenarios and cases, with defects raised as issues.

What the module covers

  • Cycles that match your plan

Unit, SIT, UAT, regression, performance and cutover dry run, each with its own scenarios, cases and progress charts.

  • Cases with steps and results

Assign a tester, record the actual result and status of each case and see the pass rate for the cycle.

  • Excel templates

Download the template, fill it with the cases your team already wrote, and import it into the cycle.

  • Defects become issues

From a failed case, raise an issue in the RAID log in one click, linked back to the case, so defects are triaged with every other issue.

How a programme uses it

  1. Load the cycle

Import scenarios and cases from the template and assign testers.

  2. Run and record

Testers record each case's result. A failed case can raise an issue linked to it.

  3. Report the exit position

Pass rates by cycle and build object coverage give you the numbers to judge the cycle against its exit criteria.

Where it helps most

A delivery team works around a table of laptops and sticky notes, with a process diagram on the whiteboard behind them.

Testing: common questions

Can we import our existing test scripts?

Yes. Download the Excel template, copy your scenarios and cases into it, and import it into the cycle.

Does a failed test create a defect?

A failed case can raise an issue in the RAID log, linked back to the case, so defects follow the same triage as other issues.
