Governance

Gates that pass on evidence, and meetings that leave a record.

Each quality gate has criteria with an owner, a mandatory flag and a sign-off. A full pass needs every mandatory criterion met. The gate can also pass with recorded conditions and a due date, or fail.

Steering committees, design authorities and other meetings keep their agenda, attendees, minutes and status, with the actions and decisions they produced. Lessons learned are captured by phase and workstream while people still remember them.

Governance

Quality gates with signed criteria, meetings with minutes, and lessons learned.

What the module covers

  • Criteria with owners

Every criterion names who signs it off and when. Mandatory criteria block a full pass until they are met.

  • Pass, conditional pass or fail

Record the real outcome. A conditional pass carries its conditions and the date by which they must be closed.

  • Meetings with minutes

Meeting type, agenda, attendees and who was present, minutes, and a status that moves from draft to circulated to approved.

  • Lessons while they are fresh

What went well, what went wrong, improvements and recommendations, linked to the risk or issue that taught the lesson.

In the app, this module is these workspace tabs:

  • Quality gates
  • Meetings
  • Lessons learned

How a programme uses it

  1. Set the criteria early

Agree each gate's criteria and owners at the start of the phase, not in the week before the gate.

  2. Collect sign-offs

Owners sign their criteria as the evidence arrives. The gate shows what is still open.

  3. Decide and record

The gate meeting passes, conditionally passes or fails the gate, and its minutes and actions are saved with it.

Where it helps most

Governance: common questions

Do the gates follow a particular method?

Today the default gates follow the SAP Activate phases, because that is where CommandCC started. Ask in a demo how they map to the method your programme uses.

Can a gate pass with open items?

A full pass needs every mandatory criterion met. The alternatives are a conditional pass, which records the conditions and a due date, or a fail.
